The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 14, 2026, when the victim, identified as Walid Kassim Mohammed, reported to the Shagari Police Division that he had been sprayed with a substance suspected to be acid while on his way to a mosque.
In a statement issued early Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect was identified as Idris Hamza, a resident of Shagari.
Nguroje said the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while the suspect was taken into protective custody.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and conduct a thorough investigation.
The police said further details would be made public as investigations continue.
