Police in Kebbi State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa, Augie Local Government Area. The Kebbi State Police Command said Mamuda reportedly struck his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe, causing her death.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene but was later traced and apprehended following police investigations and tips from community members. “He later fled the area but was traced and arrested following police investigation and information received from members of the community,” said SP Bashir Usman, the state police spokesperson.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident, and legal proceedings are expected to follow.
