Civil Rights Coalition Defends TANTITA, Condemns Smear Campaign

Date:

The Coalition of Civil Rights Organizations for Good Governance has condemned what it describes as a coordinated campaign of misinformation targeting TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, owned by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Through a statement issued by its coordinator, Comrade Jude Ochiagha, and Secretary General, Kolawole Abe, the coalition said the attacks—including misleading media publications, sponsored commentaries, and protest calls—aim to discredit TANTITA’s integrity, operational competence, and security mandate.

The group highlighted that before TANTITA’s engagement by the Federal Government, crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta had reached alarming levels, threatening national security and undermining the economy. Since TANTITA took charge of pipeline protection, the coalition said, there has been a significant reduction in illegal bunkering, improved oil production, and stronger collaboration with security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

“These attacks are the desperate antics of oil thieves and economic saboteurs whose operations have been disrupted by TANTITA,” the coalition stated. It called on the Federal Government, community leaders, and stakeholders in the Niger Delta to resist pressure from criminal elements and support lawful security interventions.

The coalition reaffirmed its support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and passed a “resounding Vote of Confidence” on TANTITA’s chairman, CEO, management, and personnel, commending their dedication to protecting Nigeria’s oil infrastructure and advancing national development.

It urged Nigerians to reject divisive propaganda, support lawful security initiatives, and stand united in defending the country’s critical economic assets.
