US Revokes Green Cards of Relatives of Qasem Soleimani, Orders Detention Amid Rising Tensions

Date:

The United States government has revoked the green cards of relatives of slain Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and ordered their detention, according to reports.

Authorities said the move is part of broader national security measures, citing concerns over potential risks linked to individuals associated with the former military commander.

Soleimani, who led Iran’s elite Quds Force, was killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike that significantly escalated tensions between Washington and Tehran.

U.S. officials indicated that the affected individuals, who previously held lawful permanent resident status, are now subject to immigration enforcement actions, including possible deportation proceedings.

The development marks a fresh twist in the strained relations between the United States and Iran, with analysts warning that such measures could further heighten diplomatic tensions.

While specific details about the number of individuals affected remain unclear, authorities emphasized that the decision aligns with ongoing efforts to safeguard national security interests.
