Gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan.
The abduction was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by Comrade Femi Awogboro, media aide to Adelabu. He said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, Mrs. John-Paul, 43, was kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. while taking her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, to school. Armed men reportedly intercepted their vehicle during the school run and took all three away.
The development has heightened fears over insecurity in parts of the Oyo State capital.
Mrs. John-Paul is a former staff member of the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. She voluntarily retired last year and had since relocated to Ibadan with her children.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident. The family has called for prayers and urged security agencies to secure the safe release of the victims.
