AbdulRazaq Appoints Etsu Tsaragi as Ameerul-Hajj

Date:

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji AKpotwa Goshi II, as Ameerul-Hajj for the state’s contingent to the 2026 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

According to the statement, the traditional ruler will lead Kwara’s Muslim pilgrims and serve as head of delegation during the exercise. As Ameerul-Hajj, he is expected to coordinate with Nigerian and Saudi authorities to ensure the welfare and smooth participation of pilgrims from the state.

The government said preparations for the 2026 Hajj are already underway, with the main rites scheduled for the last week of May 2026, corresponding to Dhul-Hijjah 1447AH in the Islamic calendar. The exact dates remain subject to moon sighting.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a hitch-free pilgrimage for intending pilgrims, as arrangements continue ahead of the annual religious exercise.
