Action Peoples Party Dissolves Imo Exco, Sets Up Interim Caretaker Committee

Date:

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has dissolved its Imo State Executive Committee and constituted an eight-member Interim Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs pending the conduct of congresses.

The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and subsequently approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to the party, the caretaker arrangement is aimed at restoring internal harmony and strengthening administrative structure ahead of its scheduled congresses.

The appointed Interim Caretaker Committee is headed by Ernest Njesi as Chairman, with Emeka Onwukwe serving as Secretary. Other members include Henry Alaribe as Deputy Chairman for Owerri Zone, Ogemdi Ezemonye as Deputy Chairman for Orlu Zone, Ernest Ezirim as Deputy Chairman for Okigwe Zone, Cajethan Duke as Publicity Secretary, and Peter Etoh as Treasurer.

Speaking during the inauguration of the committee, APP National Chairman Uchenna Nnadi urged the members to promote unity and ensure inclusiveness in the party’s activities. He charged them to carry all stakeholders along in the discharge of their responsibilities.

In a related development, the party has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its plan to conduct ward, local government, and state congresses.

In a letter dated March 2, 2026, and addressed to the INEC Chairman, Nnadi and National Secretary Abu Ibrahim Bossan stated that the notification complies with statutory requirements, providing the mandatory 21-day notice.

The party announced that the congresses will hold on March 24, 2026, at the ward level; March 26 at the local government level; and March 28, 2026, at the state level.
