Nigerian reality star and actress, Bisola Aiyeola, has revealed her initial psychological struggles with becoming a single mother, describing feelings of trauma and shame upon discovering she was pregnant out of wedlock. Her candid interview with Tope Olowoni highlighted the emotional toll of the experience.
Aiyeola explained that her fear was partly influenced by family history, as her mother was also a single parent. She admitted being concerned that the situation could create a recurring pattern for her daughter, which intensified her feelings of shame and anxiety.
At the time, the actress was engaged but the marriage did not materialize, compounding her fears. She described the pregnancy as “so shameful” due to both societal pressures and the precedent set by her own mother, which left her scared and uncertain about the future.
Economic challenges added to her stress, making it difficult for her to cope with the responsibilities of motherhood. Aiyeola also struggled with breastfeeding and accepting the reality of her situation, which she described as overwhelming at the time.
Over time, she gradually embraced her role as a mother, finding gratitude and joy in raising her daughter. The 40-year-old reflected that, despite initial difficulties, the experience taught her valuable lessons and strengthened her bond with her child.
