ADC Chieftain Condemns Suspension Of Nasarawa Chairman

Date:

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State, Muhammad Bose, has criticised the suspension of the party’s state chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, describing the decision as unjust, poorly timed, and harmful to party unity.

Bose, a prominent ADC figure from Doma South, questioned the rationale behind suspending the chairman ahead of the party’s congress, arguing that any leadership concerns should be resolved through due process at the congress.

“Our leaders have made a mistake,” he said. “With the congress approaching, he should have been allowed to participate and, if necessary, be replaced through a proper congress.”

He rejected claims that Williams engaged in anti-party activities, insisting the allegations were unfounded. According to Bose, differences in political choices during the last general election did not amount to disloyalty.

“In the last election, many of us supported different candidates on the ADC platform. That did not make anyone anti-party,” he said, suggesting that some of those behind the suspension may not have fully supported the party themselves.

Bose warned that what he described as injustice could deepen internal divisions and weaken the ADC’s prospects in the state. “Injustice will not take the party anywhere,” he added.

He also cited similar leadership crises in other parties as cautionary examples, noting that frequent suspensions often leave lasting damage. “We have seen this before, and it hurt those parties badly. We should not repeat the same mistakes,” he said.

Bose stressed that his position was based on principle rather than personal loyalty, saying he had no personal relationship with the suspended chairman.

The ADC leadership recently suspended Williams for 14 days over alleged anti-party activities, a move that has continued to spark controversy within the party in Nasarawa State.
