Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has opened up about a harrowing health crisis that nearly claimed her life while in the United Kingdom earlier this year.
In a deeply emotional post shared on her Instagram page, the award-winning actress revealed that she underwent an unplanned surgery in June, describing the experience as one of the most terrifying and transformative moments of her life.
“I could have lost my life in June,” she wrote. “What I went through was horrific and ended with an unplanned surgery — and strangely, the surgery itself was the least dramatic part of it all.”
According to Etomi, the incident occurred while she was in the UK for two speaking engagements alongside her husband, singer and politician Banky W, and their two sons. She credited divine intervention for her survival, explaining that every detail of that day seemed to align perfectly to save her life.
“If even one single detail had been different, I wouldn’t be here today. When I think about it, I shudder,” she recounted, expressing gratitude for the divine timing and circumstances that worked in her favour.
The Sugar Rush star noted that the ordeal deepened her faith in God and completely changed her perspective on life. “There’s nothing anyone can tell me — God is real,” she declared, emphasizing her renewed sense of purpose and gratitude.
Etomi also used the opportunity to share an uplifting message with her fans, encouraging them to live with more compassion and appreciation for life. “Let’s choose to be softer, kinder, gentler, forgiving, patient, loving, and peaceful,” she urged. “I’ll never take another day for granted — neither should you.”
Her revelation has since drawn an outpouring of support and prayers from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, many of whom praised her courage and unwavering faith.
