After Weeks in Rivers, Wike Returns to FCT

Date:

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has returned to Abuja after spending 17 days in Rivers State on a political tour across local government areas.

The tour, described as a thank-you visit, saw the former Rivers governor consolidate his political base while taking aim at key opposition figures in the state.

During the engagements, Wike openly mobilised support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term re-election bid in 2027, declaring that Rivers State would adopt a “rainbow coalition” involving both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He also reignited his rivalry with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, warning that Fubara’s recent endorsement of Tinubu would not guarantee him the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Confirming his return, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, announced on Facebook that the FCT minister departed Port Harcourt for Abuja after completing visits to several local government areas in the state.
