Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba. The announcement was made on Monday by Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu.
The appointment comes as part of efforts to address the club’s recent decline from its traditional standards of excellence. Governor Otti’s administration aims to reposition Enyimba for professionalism, sustainability, and strong corporate governance.
Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel brings extensive experience and technical expertise. He holds CAF A, B, and C coaching licenses and has previously served as Technical Adviser and Head Coach for clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, earning several accolades including the Nigeria National League (NNL) Best Coach Award in 2025.
Governor Otti expressed confidence in the new coach’s ability to rebuild the club. He highlighted Emmanuel’s professional discipline, tactical knowledge, and wealth of experience as key assets that would strengthen Enyimba’s competitive edge and lay a foundation for long-term success.
The appointment follows a brief tenure by former Crown FC Coach, Deji Ayeni. Despite Ayeni’s recent appointment, Enyimba lost 2-0 to Niger Tornados of Minna, prompting the administration to take decisive action to stabilize and improve the club’s performance.
