Alozie Makes 2025 FIFPRO World XI List

Date:

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has been named among the 26 nominees for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World XI.

The FIFPRO World XI is the only global football award voted exclusively by professional players, celebrating the standout performers of the year.

Alozie, who features for Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), is one of three African players shortlisted. She played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph in Morocco earlier this year.

Also nominated are Moroccan captain Ghizlane Chebbak and Zambian skipper Barbra Banda.

According to FIFPRO, more than 26,000 players from 68 countries voted for this year’s teams. The finalists represent the top 26 footballers in their respective positions, judged on performances between August 11, 2024, and August 3, 2025.

The final World XI will comprise the 11 players with the most votes in each position, with winners to be announced on Monday, November 3.

Since its inception in 2005, the FIFPRO World XI has honoured football’s best talents, with a women’s category introduced in 2016. Lionel Messi holds the record for the most men’s selections (17), followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (15), while Wendie Renard and Lucy Bronze share the women’s record with seven appearances each.
