Real Madrid’s veteran midfielder Luka Modric has announced he will leave the club this summer, bringing an end to a legendary chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, the 39-year-old Croatian confirmed that Saturday’s match at the Bernabéu will be his final appearance at the iconic stadium in a Real Madrid shirt.
“Everything in life has a beginning and an end,” Modric wrote. “On Saturday, I will play my last match at the Santiago Bernabéu. I’m leaving with a heart full of pride, gratitude, and unforgettable memories.”
While Modric will remain with the squad through the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, he made it clear that his time on the pitch in Madrid colors is coming to a close.
“Even though, after the Club World Cup, I’ll no longer wear this shirt on the pitch, I will always be a Madridista,” he added.
Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012 and has since become one of the most decorated and admired midfielders in the club’s history, playing a crucial role in multiple Champions League and La Liga triumphs.
