Angélique Kidjo

Beninese singer and five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo will become the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to the 2026 honoree list released by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Kidjo joins a diverse group of international artists and entertainers selected for the honor, which recognizes significant contributions to the entertainment industry.

The 2026 class also includes American pop artist Miley Cyrus, French actor Timothée Chalamet, former NBA star and sports analyst Shaquille O’Neal, and Filipino singer and Broadway star Lea Salonga.

Other honorees named are French actress Marion Cotillard, Indian actress Deepika Padukone, British actress Emily Blunt, and Canadian actress Rachel McAdams.

Kidjo’s recognition marks a milestone in the Walk of Fame’s history, as she becomes the first African-born artist to be honored with a star.

The Walk of Fame selection panel considers candidates in five categories: motion pictures, television, live performance/theatre, radio, and recording. Honorees must agree to attend a public ceremony within two years of selection.

Exact dates for the 2026 ceremonies have not yet been confirmed.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame, which stretches along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, features more than 2,700 stars celebrating achievements in entertainment.
