The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for July 24th in Abuja to determine whether Ali Bukar Dalori will continue as acting national chairman or if a new substantive chairman will be appointed before the next convention.

The announcement was made by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, following a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Monday. the Deputy National Chairman (North), Dalori, was endorsed as acting chairman after the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje last Friday, citing health reasons.

Fuanter emphasized that while the NWC endorsed Dalori in line with party rules, final ratification lies with the NEC. “If the NEC decides a new chairman should be nominated, that will be respected, and the convention will finalize the appointment,” he said.

The meeting also focused on preparations for upcoming by-elections and party congresses in states affected by the deaths or resignations of lawmakers. Fuanter said the APC is working to secure victory in these contests and will soon release its strategy.

Dalori, in his remarks, pledged to lead with transparency and inclusiveness. He stressed the need to reconnect with the grassroots and reinforce party structures ahead of the 2027 elections, calling his appointment a “responsibility, not a personal victory.”

The NWC also formally accepted Ganduje’s resignation, presented by National Secretary Ajibola Basiru. In accordance with Article 14 of the APC Constitution, Dalori was confirmed to serve as acting chairman pending a NEC decision.

Dalori concluded by reaffirming the party’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating, “The Renewed Hope Agenda is a living roadmap, and the APC will remain a committed partner in driving this national transformation.”
