The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced new dates for its Ward and Local Government Congresses following the suspension of the earlier exercise.
In a statement issued by the party’s caucus in the state, the APC said the rescheduled Ward Congress will hold on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, while the Local Government Congress is slated for Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The party explained that last week’s suspension was necessary to resolve internal disagreements within the state chapter, adding that unity has now been restored.
According to the statement, the State Congress will proceed as earlier planned on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The development comes amid speculation that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, may defect to the APC to seek a second term in office. However, his media aides, Ferdinand Ekeoma and Dodoh Okafor, have dismissed the claims.
