Army GOC harps on importance of welfare, others

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has emphasized that troops’ welfare is a key component of command.

 

He made this known during the investiture of 3 newly promoted senior officers, who were decorated with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, at Port Harcourt Barracks.

The GOC, while giving his remarks maintained that the rank of Lieutenant Colonel is an important rank to attain in the Nigerian Army (NA), adding that it is a rank that affords an officer the opportunity to become a Commanding Officer. He further added that the rank will leave officers with experiences that will last all through their career in the NA.

Major General Abdussalam urged the newly decorated officers to keep the core values of the NA as a guiding principle to succeed in their careers.

He further stressed that selfless service and loyalty are a must for every officer, while discipline is the bedrock the NA is built upon.

He further stated that discipline breeds courage, while integrity remains an indispensable ingredient for all officers.

He congratulated them for their well-deserved elevation to the enviable rank of Lieutenant Colonels in the NA and urged them to continue to be professionals so that they can project the good image of the NA wherever they find themselves.

He reminded them to accord the desired attention to the welfare of troops placed under them, as this has huge implications on the way officers and men discharge their responsibilities.

Lieutenant Colonel Umar Bature, while delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted senior officers, expressed gratitude to Almighty God, the Chief of Army Staff, as well as the GOC for the privilege and unwavering commitment that mentored them to achieve this feat in the NA.

He pledged their unalloyed loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

He promised that they would continue to serve the nation with dedication in any capacity they found themselves.

The newly decorated senior officers are Lt Cols Umar Bature, Josehat Ogor, and Buda Magaji, all of 6 Division, Nigerian Army. The occasion was attended by family members, friends, and well-wishers.
