Armed bandits have killed two operatives of the Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) during an attack on Tsafe town in Zamfara State.
Security sources said the incident occurred late Sunday night when the assailants stormed the outskirts of Tsafe along the Yankuzo road. The officers, who were on duty at the time, reportedly came under heavy gunfire and were killed on the spot.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Zamfara, a state that has faced persistent insecurity linked to armed groups targeting rural communities, security personnel, and travellers.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the killings.
