Bandits have abducted a woman and two children during an attack on a residence in Bareke-Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The raid, which occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday, left the head of the household, identified as Tokpe Gody, with gunshot wounds. Gody, a farmer, narrowly escaped abduction and is receiving treatment at Egbe Hospital, where residents described his condition as critical.

The incident came a day after a commercial motorcyclist was killed in nearby Ejiba when he ran into a bandit ambush. Residents say the latest attack underscores the growing insecurity across the area.

In Niger State, bandits have imposed levies on several communities in Mashegu Local Government Area, demanding between N500,000 and N10 million within days as a condition for halting attacks. Villages including Babban Rami, Kaboji, Sabon Rijiya, Sabon Rami, Khizi, and settlements around Keji forest have all been ordered to pay.

Residents report they have been unable to harvest crops due to repeated raids, with farmers killed, villagers kidnapped, and highways unsafe for travel.
