Six Barcelona players, including new arrival Marcus Rashford, may be ineligible to feature in the upcoming LaLiga campaign due to the club’s ongoing financial constraints, Spanish outlet SPORT reports.
Rashford joined the Catalan giants this summer on a season-long loan from Manchester United. However, like several other new signings, his registration remains uncertain as the club struggles to meet LaLiga’s financial regulations.
Barcelona faced similar hurdles last season with Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, both of whom initially received temporary licenses. Those licenses were later revoked by the league during the January transfer window.
Despite the setbacks, club president Joan Laporta remains optimistic.
“It’s progressing well,” Laporta told ESPN. “We’re doing our job and we’re confident that we’ll be able to register everyone.”
The registration issue poses a serious challenge for the reigning Spanish champions as they prepare for the new season, with pressure mounting to resolve the situation before kickoff.
