The Borno State Government has sworn in six newly appointed High Court judges as part of ongoing efforts to improve justice delivery and restore public confidence in the judiciary.
The judges were officially sworn in on Thursday by the Acting Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, at the Government House in Maiduguri.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kadafur said the appointments were designed to boost efficiency and transparency in the judicial system, adding that the state is implementing reforms to modernise court operations.
According to him, Borno has introduced electronic filing, digital case management systems and online legal resources to reduce delays and enhance access to justice.
He urged the new judges to uphold the highest standards of integrity, impartiality and professionalism, assuring them of the governmentβs continued support for judicial reforms.
The Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, congratulated the judges and described their elevation as a call to greater responsibility.
He emphasized that the judiciary must remain independent and fair, dispensing justice without fear or favour, while also encouraging the judges to embrace the ongoing digital transformation in the justice sector.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior government officials, judicial officers and members of the legal profession.
