The remains of Professor Yusuf Lanre Badmas, a former Dean of Post-Graduate School at the University of Ilorin, has been laid to rest, ROYAL NEWS has confirmed.
Janazah for the deceased was held around 11;30am today Saturday 31st January at his Maimasa family compound, Ojagboro area Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Shaykh Abdullahi Abdulhamid, the prayer was attended by dignitaries across all walks of life including; the Ciroma of Ilorin, Barrister Abubakar Bature Sulu-Gambari SAN, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Zanna of Ilorin, Engr. Yusuf Lanre Sagaya, the Kuliya of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN, Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin, Dr. Abdulkadir Oba Sholagberu, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Dr. Sulyman Farooq Onikijipa OON and the former Vice Chancellor University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali among others.
Shaykh Abdulhamid was sighted shedding tears profusely and could not control his emotions due to his aged-long bond with the deceased since their days in Kano over five decades ago.
Recall that the deceased was reported dead on Friday 30th January, 2026 at a Lagos hospital after a brief illness shortly before now he wrote the FOREWARD of the biography of the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh (Dr) Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih OON titled: The Spiritual Orator.
Late Prof Lanre Badmas was known as a world-class scholar, religious leader, community leader and a dedicated academic Icon who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Ilorin emirate and humanity in general.
