Following the recent banditry attack on some villages in Kaiama and Baruten local government areas of Kwara State, the Management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete has announced the suspension of the planned relocation of its Faculty of Agriculture to the Ilesha-Baruba campus.
This is contained in an official memo signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee on Thursday, ROYAL NEWS has gathered.
It was directed to the concerned faculty, noting that the relocation has been put on hold until further notice.
Management further stated that a new date for the relocation will be communicated in due course.
It will be recalled that the Faculty of Agriculture was earlier scheduled to commence the Rain Semester academic activities at the Ilesha-Baruba campus.
Recall that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on Wednesday directed the Nigeria Army Cantonment, Sobi, Ilorin to flush out bandits terrorising some parts of Kwara and Niger States respectively witnin 30 days.
The Emir of Yashikira in Baruten Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Seriki Sabi Kpasi II, of the state was the first to raise alarm of banditry activities which affected some villages under his District.
Although, similar outcry was also raised by communities in Borgu Kingdom of Niger State.
