The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, has praised the present administration for its continuous commitment to youth empowerment and job creation in Kwara State.
He gave the commendation during his visit to the NYSC temporary Orientation Camp at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin on Friday where he attended the round-up programme of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative.
The Commissioner toured exhibition stands where corps members proudly displayed the practical skills they had been trained on.
Amb. Shehu expressed excitement over the creativity, innovation and technical expertise showcased, describing them as strong returns on the government’s investment in young people.
He noted that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has continued to prioritise youth development, equipping them with the ability to create jobs rather than rely on scarce white-collar opportunities.
He acknowledged the corps members’ achievements in varied areas including ICT services, data vending, digital business solutions, solar-powered technology projects such as power bank production and CCTV installation, as well as fashion design, crafts, interior décor, beauty and personal care production.
According to him “the skills you have acquired are vital assets that will strengthen economic productivity across the State”.
Amb. Shehu congratulated the corps members for their dedication throughout the training period and encouraged them to fully utilise their newly gained knowledge as they prepare to serve the nation and society at large.
He assured them that the Ministry will continue to support youth-centered programmes that promote self-reliance, innovation and economic sustainability.
He also applauded the NYSC management and trainers for their efforts in mentoring the participants, stating that such partnerships remain key to expanding opportunities for young people in Kwara State.
In his remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua thanked the Commissioner for the visit and applauded the State government’s continued support for corps members’ welfare and skill development.
He noted that the SAED initiative has been greatly enhanced by the enabling environment created by the Kwara State Government.
“What we witnessed here today shows the government’s sincere commitment to building a generation of empowered youths who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the nation. These skills are not just knowledge they are tools for lifelong success”,he added.
