The newly inaugurated Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, on Monday appointed Osarodion Ogie, as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG.

The new SSG was sworn in by Governor Obaseki at the Government House, in Benin, the state capital.

Ogie, who was the Director-General of Obaseki’s campaign organisation, was also the immediate past Commissioner for Works in the state.

The governor also appointed Mr Taiwo Akerele as his Chief of Staff and Mr John Mayaki as his interim Chief Press Secretary.

Speaking at the swearing-in of the new officers, Obaseki assured that Civil Services under his administration would be vibrant, trusted, competent and reliable, adding that erring workers will be sanctioned.

Stressing that no government or system can succeed without a weak service, the governor said that there was need for civil servants to put in place a system that would support them through old age.

He said, “I have no doubt about the capacity of the civil service, but we will also need to clear the clog on the wheel of progress.”

The governor who directed permanent secretaries to take charge of the Ministries until government’s programmes were properly defined, noted that no political appointments would be made until that is done.

Obaseki further promised that his administration will follow due process in its various activities.
