Egbetokun formally takes over as 22nd IGP
The Acting Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has officially assumed office as the 22nd IGP and promised to ensure a transparent, accountable, responsible, and responsive police force.
Egbetokun stated this at the official handing over ceremony which took place
at the Force headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja.
The New Police boss noted that his leadership will ensure a brighter more disciplined police force centered around integrity, professionalism ethics, without overlooking training of police officers across all ranks, thereby bringing about officers per excellence.
“Hence forth every police officer would be selected based on professionalism and passion. We would recognise that the true measure of our community lies in our professionalism.
“Change does not come overnight, together we shall create the police force that we all crave for. Let us be change we want to see,” said Egbetokun.
He called on all Nigerians to support the NPF in the course ot the Police transformation journey, adding that the NPF would strive for respect for he rule of law.
Speaking on the security of lives and properties, Egbetokun assured that the NPF would secure the nation and build massive peace through proactive approach, reiterating that community policing will not be set aside, as efforts are on the way to make it work.
He further disclosed that salaries of police constables is presently being looked into and is all worked out, and would be paid by the end of the month.
