The Association of Retired States Permanent Secretaries of Nigeria (ARSPSON), Kwara Chapter has honoured the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari with the conferment of Emeritus Permanent Secretary.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the Emir, Prince Ayo Fagbemi, the Chairman of ARSPSON, Kwara chapter explained that the association has been in existence for more than eight years and addressing the welfare of members and contributing to the progress of the State.
He said: “We are aware that Your Royal Highness is one of us, having served in the good old days as the Solicitor General, an equivalent of a Permanent Secretary in the Borno State Civil Service, North East Nigeria.
“It is for this reason that we are elated and glad this day to be with Your Royal Highness, as one of our own”.
Fagbemi observed that Emirate has enjoyed peace and tranquility in Ilorin, adding that it is a feat that ensured unequalled development in Kwara.
According to him, this has made the Kwara a front runner and reference point across the States of the Federation.
The ARSPSON chairman commended the Emir on the appointment and conferment of the prestigious title of Sardauna Ngeri on Gov. AbdulRahman Abdul Razaq, of Kwara.
He explained that the award was in recognition and appreciation of marvelous achievements in Ilorin Emirate and the State as a whole in the past decades.
“We assure Your Royal Highness of our determination to continue to be good ambassadors of the State everywhere and all of the time,’ he said.
In his appreciative remark, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, commended the retirees for the honour conffered on him.
He recalled that he had served in Maiduguri, in Borno State as far back as in 1970’s, adding that he also served in Ibadan, Oyo State and Gongola, the present Adamawa State.
According to him, the association is a good initiative especially in this times of uncertainty.
“I was the Solicitor General, in the then Gongola State and they wanted a Judge and they made a judge,” he said.
The Emir advised the association to be ambassadors of peace, adding they should always act decently in thier actions, dressing and speeches.
