Enugu Opposition Leader Hails ADC as Vehicle to Rescue Nigeria from Bad Leadership

Date:

An opposition leader in Enugu State, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable national platform capable of rescuing Nigeria from years of poor leadership.

In a press statement made available on Friday, Ogbodo expressed confidence that the party, led by David Mark, will restore Nigerians’ lost hopes and strengthen democratic governance.

Ogbodo, speaking through his media aide, Azubuike Akam, highlighted that the recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which revised the timetable for the ADC’s nationwide congresses and national convention, marked a key milestone in the party’s efforts to rebuild Nigeria’s democratic foundations.

He described the timetable—from ward and polling unit congresses to the national convention scheduled for April 14, 2026—as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to internal democracy and institutional discipline.

“This transparent process is not merely about electing party officials. It is about renewing hope, deepening participation, and positioning the ADC as the credible vehicle through which Nigerians can reclaim their future,” Ogbodo said.

He lamented the ongoing hardships facing Nigerians, including rising living costs, collapsing infrastructure, and economic policies disconnected from citizens’ realities, attributing these challenges to years of leadership failures and policy inconsistencies.

Focusing on Enugu State, Ogbodo emphasized the need for a new political culture grounded in integrity, competence, and service. He described the upcoming party congresses and convention as foundational to creating a movement that can challenge outdated political practices and introduce leadership that listens and acts courageously.

“The ADC has already demonstrated readiness to become a formidable national platform, strengthening grassroots structures and mobilizing citizens ahead of future elections. Our party stands today as a broad coalition of Nigerians who believe that the country can, and must do better,” he stated.

Ogbodo concluded by urging Nigerians to see the process as the start of national renewal, asserting that the ADC is prepared to offer credible leadership, restore trust in governance, and provide a platform for hope and participatory democracy.
