Ex-federal prosecutor, Magaji bags rule of law, constitutional democracy award

Mr Labaran Magaji, a former Federal Prosecutor on Sunday bagged an award for his contribution to the rule of law, law development and constitutional democracy in the country.

The award was bestowed on the renowned legal icon by the National Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS), Nasarawa State University, Keffi chapter, at a dinner held at the institution.

The President of the association, Nasir Abubakar said that the dinner was organised to extol Magaji’s contributions and commitment to humanity as well as the fight against injustice.

Responding, Magaji, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial aspirant for Nasarawa West called on the students to be committed to their studies.

The legal luminary also enjoined the students to avoid all forms of social vices that could be detrimental to their future and capable of soiling the images of their respective families.

He also reaffirmed his support to education and empowerment of the youths, reiterating his determination to sustain his fight against illiteracy in the society.

Meanwhile, Magaji, has disbursed scholarships to 22 law students at the institution and doled out cash in support of law students who excelled in their academic pursuits by maintaining a 4.00 CGPA.

NAN also reports that the beneficiaries were 500 and 400 levels law undergraduates who each boast of a 4.00 CGPA.

Out of them, 10 who are in 500-level will each receive N50,000 each, while each of the remaining 17 who are in 400-level will receive N20,000.

NAN also recalls that Magaji was a prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney General and Minister Of Justice.
