Facts have emerged on the reasons why Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State gave more attention and consideration to women in his recent appointment of commissioners in the state.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the governor had announced the names of commissioners who will form his cabinet to govern the state and among them are nine women and seven men.
Speaking in Ilorin on Thursday, a party stalwart and Chairman of the committee saddled with the responsibility of recovery of state owned property, Senator Ajadi Makanjuola, confirmed that “the governor is after efficiency and good governance.”
Ajadi who received in audience, the 38year-old commissioner nominee from Ifelodun local government area, Hon. Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin, who paid him a thank you visit.
According to him, “If you look at human nature, you will agree with me that women are more soft minded and they don’t have the corrupt spirit except for few ones. But men are known for excesses. Governor Abdulrahman is after accountability. Most men are looters. This evident in the fact that when you at the numbers of of corrupt officials who are in EFCC custody, you will agree with me that majority of them are men.
“Apart from that, the governor is highly gender sensitive and he want to balance the level of political participation between men and women. With this, he has made history for being the first governor to have empowered women in that magnitude across the country.”
Ajadi further stressed that, “The governor has created the chance of forming an harmonious cabinet that will further ensure good governance, wealth creation, infrastructural and accelerated community development.
“Governor Abdulrahman is after articulate youths that will give his administration quality direction for effective performance with strong vision so that his government can achieve alot for the people.”
He however urged Kwarans to be patient with Governor Abdulrahman led administration adding that more developments would be attracted to the state with the support of the people.
The ex-lawmaker therefore advised the commissioners-nominee to see their appointment as a call to service for the people of the state to the glory of God and benefit of mankind.
