FCT Loses First Female and Indigenous Head of Service

Grace Adayilo, the first female and indigenous Head of Service (HoS) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has passed away.

A senior source within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) confirmed that Adayilo died suddenly in the early hours of Monday. As of the time of reporting, no official statement has been issued by her family or the FCTA.

Her last public appearance was on Thursday, when she represented FCT Minister Nyesom Wike at the G7 security meeting in Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Adayilo to the role in October 2024, a historic milestone as she became the first woman and the first indigenous person to occupy the position in the FCT.

Her death comes just months after her appointment, cutting short what many described as a groundbreaking moment for gender and indigenous representation in the Federal Capital Territory.
