God Determines Nigeria’s Next President — Adeboye

Date:

Rev.E.O. Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has said Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by divine will.

Adeboye made the remark during a workers’ meeting at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, stating that the outcome of the election ultimately rests with God.

“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.

He urged Nigerians not to be anxious about political developments, stressing that God remains sovereign over the nation’s future. While encouraging civic participation, he maintained that spiritual trust should guide citizens.

“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” he added.

Adeboye also advised Nigerians to remain peaceful and prayerful as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.

Reacting to comments by activist Omoyele Sowore, who described him alongside David Oyedepo and William Kumuyi as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria,” Adeboye rejected the label.

He clarified that leadership of Christians in Nigeria rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria, noting that its president represents Christians nationally.

“I don’t want to be father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,” he said.

The cleric also dismissed claims circulating on social media that the church is aligned with the All Progressives Congress, insisting that the RCCG remains independent and has consistently spoken on national issues, including economic hardship.

He added that while politicians are free to attend services, they are not permitted to use the altar for political campaigns.

Adeboye further stated that he would support any peaceful protest organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria if it addresses governance concerns, noting that his stance is based on principle rather than politics.
