A political support group in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has launched a grassroots mobilisation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
The group, known as Grassroots Generals for Good Governance (G4), said it would also work for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
Speaking at a New Year meeting in Abak, the national coordinator of G4, Dr Emmanuel Udosen, said the group comprises prominent stakeholders drawn from across the local government and is committed to delivering electoral victories for the APC in 2027.
Udosen said Abak recorded the highest number of votes for Tinubu in Akwa Ibom State during the 2023 presidential election, adding that the group intends to surpass that performance in the next polls.
According to him, G4 plans to establish structures at ward, unit and village levels to drive voter mobilisation, registration and collection of Permanent Voter Cards in line with directives issued by the state government.
“We are aligning with the governor’s directive on voter registration and PVC collection ahead of 2027. G4 will take the lead in mobilising the grassroots to strengthen our voting base,” Udosen said.
He attributed the group’s confidence to what he described as growing unity among political leaders in the state, expressing optimism that APC’s vote tally in Abak would significantly increase in 2027.
Udosen also commended the Abak Local Government chairperson for her role in ongoing voter registration efforts and urged other stakeholders to support the exercise.
At the meeting, members affirmed the appointment of a Board of Trustees, with Prof. Nkereuwem Etukudo named chairman, alongside other political and community leaders from the area.
