Fans and colleagues of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo have flooded social media with tributes following reports of his death after a prolonged battle with cancer. The news, which surfaced on Tuesday, has thrown Nigeria’s entertainment industry into mourning, with many describing the loss as shocking and heartbreaking.
Across platforms such as X and Instagram, fans expressed disbelief and grief over the actor’s passing. Many recalled his talent, screen presence, and humility, while others reflected on the fragility of life and the hidden struggles people face behind social media appearances.
Several celebrities and industry figures also paid tribute to the late actor. Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo described Ekubo as a “great soul” whose legacy would endure, while actor Bolanle Ninalowo, singer Peter Okoye, and actor Chinedu Ikedieze also shared emotional reactions online.

Born on April 10, 1986, Alex Ekubo was widely known for his roles in several successful Nollywood films and television productions.
