Group unravels plot to allegedly dethrone 5 traditional rulers in Nassrawa

.…..says God won’t allow PDP destroy state

A group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens for Peace and Unity (COCFPU) in Nasarawa state, has raised alarm over alleged plot by some leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 governorship election, David Ombugadu to dethrone five traditional rulers in the state if he eventually wins against Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Appeal and Supreme Courts to emerge as governor of the state.

The group alleged that the PDP leaders held a secret meeting with the governorship candidate in Abuja presided over by Mr. Labaran Maku at the weekend where they deliberated extensively and resolved to reverse the recent upgrade of some traditional stools by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

However, the group said that the evil plan will not see the light of the day and that God will not allow PDP destroy Nasarawa State.

Coordinator of the group, Alh. Ibrahim Kafiru in a statement in Lafia gave names of the traditional rulers to be affected according to the resolution of the meeting include, the Aren Eggon, retired Justice Mohammed Ubangari Alaku (to be replaced with an Eggon Christian) HRH, Osula Inarigu of Assakio Chiefdom, Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare, Osuko of Obi, Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Ogiri and the Osokadoko of Kadarko, Alh. Umar Usman Dodo.

He further alleged that the Abuja meeting which also had some prominent Eggon sons working outside the state, urged David Ombugadu, whom they addressed as incoming governor of the state to ensure that the recent upgrade of some traditional rulers to various status by the Sule’s administration was reversed and create at least, one chiefdoms each for the Eggon people in Lafia, Obi, Agyaragu, Akwanga, Keffi and Kokona local government areas of the state when he eventually becomes the governor.

The State Traditional Council has come under series of attacks by the opposition PDP in the state which accused the traditional rulers of partisanship.

It will be recalled that the state leadership of PDP had alleged that the recent visit by a delegation of the State Traditional Council led by the Emir of Lafia to the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shetima was aimed to beg for Shetima’s intervention into the petition filed against the re-election of governor Abdullahi Sule.

According to the COCFPU Coordinator, the meeting frowned at alleged maltreatment of the Eggon people and urged the “incoming governor” to ensure that his kinsmen were returned to take full control of Assakio, Mararaba-Obi, Deddere, Agwatashi and Agyaragu communities.

Kafiru also claimed that the said meeting noted with satisfaction, the legal battle so far and resolved to leverage on their various contacts to support the legal battle to it’s logical conclusion, pointing out that, having an Eggon Christian as governor of the state will be an opportunity to end alleged Christian marginalization in the state and the return of Lafia Local Government into the full control of the Eggon people.

It added that the Ombugadu governorship should immediately work towards having members of the State House of Assembly to impeach the current Speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi to pave way for a Christian Speaker and appointment of a Christian as Secretary to the State Government, among other sensitive positions in government.
