The murder case of the Hafsoh Lawal has been adjourned till April 22, even as it now moved the case to High Court.
Magistrate S.B. Mohammed ruled on Wednesday that the case be transfered to High Court on April 15, while the Magistrate Court will yet sit on April 22 to terminate the case, as a criminal case could not be entertained in two courts of law.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin had approved the Department of State Service to continue to detain the the defendant, who brought the defendant Abdulraman Ballo and four others in a heavy security.
Mid-drama however ensued between Barr. A.S. Oseni, the Counsel to the 2nd and 4th defendants, and Barr. Issa Zakari, the Chief State Counsel.
Barr. A.S Oseni, argued that he had been vindicated of his assertion in the previous proceedings where he requested that DSS investigation should not delay the transfer of the case to the High Court.
“Further investigation by the DSS is becoming ad infinitum, taking till thy kingdom come. Your Worship can now see my previous submissions are now playing out,” jokingly stating his statement has been vindicated.
ROYAL NEWS reported in the last sitting that Barr. Oseni argued that the High Court has already seized the case, and therefore urged Honourable Court to vacate such order and return the defendants back to the prison forthwith.
According to Counsel to Hafsoh Lawal’s family, Dr. Folorunsho Ahmed Hussein, the rumours sorrunding the case are not valid.
Some section of the media claimed that the dismembered parts uncovered were not truly human parts but that of monkey or that Abdulraman Ballo and others defendants have been transferred to Abuja for further investigation.
He further said “We urged members of the public to be patient as justice will be served. The suspects appeared in court today and those who did not have the privilege to enter the court at least saw them when brought by the DSS”
“The reason why migistrate court will need to terminate the case after the suspects have been arraigned at the High Court on April 15 is to avoid double tragedy,” Barr. Hussein said.
He further stated that since the police has finished their investigations and the DSS is now still carrying out further investigation, the suspects would remain with the latter until they are through, then DSS will hand over the suspects back.
