IEYDA applauds Police, Army, others over peaceful conduct of polls

The Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association, (IEYDA) has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Baba Alkali, for the successful monitoring of the conduct of the 2023 general elections across the country.

The group also extended goodwill to the authorities of the Department of State Services, (DSS), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) and Nigeria Immigration Services, (NIS) for a job well done during the exercise.

Other agencies on the list includes; the Nigeria Customs Services, (NCS), Nigeria Army, (NA) Nigeria Navy, (NN) Nigeria Air Foce (NAF) and the Nigeria Legion among other security, military and para-military agencies, stressing that, “With the outcome of the 2023 elections which was widely considered to be peaceful and transparent, Nigeria is indeed on the verge of democratic advancement. ”

IEYDA National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Uthman Jagunma, stated this in a statement issued shortly presenting the Post-Election Autopsy Report to the Board of Trustees of the group in Ilorin on Friday.

He noted that the conduct of Nigerians during the general election nationwide really reflected their readiness for positive change, democratic advancement and promotion of peaceful coexistence in the country which by extension will continue to promote the image of the nation globally.

Jagunma, a community development expert who is also the National Auditor of the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC) lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) for conducting free, fair and credible for the nation despite the pre-election tension and threats from
different individuals and groups across the country.

He also commended members of the National Youths Service Corps, (NYSC) and other Ad-Hoc staff for the patriotism and dedication to the unity and peaceful of the nation adding that, “INEC should not rest on its hoax in conducting free elections in some parts of the country where supplementary elections are required.

The Group therefore thanked the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR for his fatherly support to all candidates of political parties before, during and after the polls and advised Youths to remain veritable tools for democratic and good governance in the country.
