IGP Egbetokun commissions Divisional Police Station, Patrol vehicle, motorcycles in Kwara

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday commissioned a Divisional Police station constructed by the Iwo community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State in a bid to strengthen the manpower of the personnel and combat the spate of insecurity, crime and criminality in the state.

Egbetokun , who was represented by the outgoing commissioner of police in the state, AIG Paul Odama also received a Hilux patrol van and three patrol motorcycles donated by the community thanked them for prioritizing the safely of their people.

Odama also stressed that with his new posting as the AIG Federal Operations, he shall continue to give the necessary supports required by the people of the state especially, indigenes of Iwo Kingdom for their show of love and support to the Nigeria Force.

“On behalf of the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, I have the honour and privilege of commissioning this wonderful edifice to the glory of God and benefit of mankind”, he added.

In his remarks, the Traditional Ruler of Iwo Kingdom, Oba Arch. Joshua Olutade commended the police force for the proactive policing of the state through the various competent administrative and operations.

He said: “We are pleased to inform you that the progressive people of Iwo Community, who are renowned for their great community spirit have prepared a set of incentives to help motivate the gallant officers of the Nigerian Police who will be posted to Iwo for law enforcement
duties from time to time.

“These incentives which will be ready in two months are; two bedroom flat for DPO, one bedroom flat for DCO, one room apartment for
inspector, one room apartment for corporal and a room apartment for another corporal. In addition, the sum of N100, 000, N60, 000, N40,000 and N25, 0000 has been earmarked as monthly allowances for DPO, DCO, Inspector and two Corporals respectively.”

Oba Olutade further stressed that,”It is imperative to know that government cannot provide every facilities and utilities that
communities and organizations need for their day-to-day activities, therefore it becomes necessary for public spirited individuals,
organizations and communities to assist in enhancing the operational efficiency of public institutions such as the police force.”

The monarch expressed over the unfortunate incidence of kidnapping of some members of the community recently stressing that, the abducted victims have regained their freedom but unfortunately, one of them was killed by their abductors.

He therefore thanked the Group Managing Director/CEO of KAM Holding Ltd, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf MON for his continuous support for the community and urged him not to relent in his efforts of ensuring that the people of Iwo Kingdom and Isin Local Government Area in general continue to live in peace.

In his remarks, the Group Managing Director/CEO KAM Holding Ltd, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf MON, led the team in the tour of the facility and announced several logistic support such installation of CCTV Camera and other working tools and gadgets to the Nigeria Police in order to ensure efficient and effective use of the facilities.

He however appealed to them to make judicious use of the facilities to the benefit of the entire members of Iwo community, people of Isin Local Government Area as well as humanity in general.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the event was attended by the Olusin of Isanlu-Isin and Chairman, Isin Traditional Rulers Council, Oba Dr. Solomon Oloyede, the Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Oba Pharmacist Ademola Ajibola, the Oniwo of Odo-Ore , Oba Abdulrauf Oyerinde and members of the Isin council of Obas among others.
