
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has expressed sadness over the massive lost of lives in the road accident which occurred at Oko-olowo along Ilorin-Jebba expressway on Wednesday.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, on Thursday disclosed that, “It is indeed a colosal, unfortunate and worrisome situation.”
The Emir appealed to road users to drive with care and caution in order to preserve the lives of passengers even as he urged the authority of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to expedite actions towards keeping the road safe at all times.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari advised the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association (RTEA) and other independent transport groups to embark on re-orientation programmes for their drivers in order to equip them with adequate knowledge and rules of driving.
While commiserating with the families of the deceased, the Emir prayed Almighty Allah to be pleased with their souls and grant the injured victims quick recovery.
