The Ilorin Women Association has officially commenced the distribution of books and educational materials to public primary schools across four Local Government Areas within the Ilorin Emirate. The flag-off ceremony took place on Monday at the Karuma Primary LGEA School in Ilorin, where the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, delivered a goodwill message. She reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to improving learning outcomes and fostering educational development throughout the State.

Dr. Nuru commended the Ilorin Women Association for their proactive role in supporting public education. “This gesture aligns seamlessly with the government’s dedication to empowering our pupils through education—the most potent tool for societal advancement,” she stated. “By investing in the education of our children, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous future.”

In a demonstration of support, Dr. Nuru donated over 600 exercise books to the association. She also highlighted the strides made under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership, including initiatives such as the KwaraLEARN programme, which has significantly improved learning outcomes, teacher accountability, and digital learning integration across the State’s public primary schools.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, also praised the Ilorin Women Association’s initiative, noting that it complements the State’s efforts to provide educational materials and resources to pupils across the Ilorin Emirate. He emphasized that such collaborations are vital in advancing quality education and promoting an inclusive educational system.

She emphasized the transformative power of education in driving national development, empowering individuals, and uplifting communities. “Investing in education is investing in hope and progress,” she remarked. “It is our collective responsibility—families, communities, and civil society—to ensure that every child, especially every girl, has access to quality education.”

The event underscores the importance of community involvement in educational development and reflects the shared commitment of both governmental and non-governmental entities to foster a conducive learning environment for all children in Kwara State.
