IPOB threatens to cripple Nigeria’s economy

The indigenous people of Biafra, (IPOB) has threatened to cripple Nigeria’s economy by embarking on a weekly sit at home in the South-East which is to begin on the 9th of August.

The separatist group in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, insisted that the abduction and extradition of Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government has made it known that the leaders wants the nation’s economy in disarray and would help in getting it done except their leader is liberated.

However, the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, advised IPOB not to carry out their threat as it would only backfire and lead to crisis.

IPOB in its response to the advise said it was the group’s decision to either heed to the advice of Igbo leaders if beneficial or renounce if detrimental.

The statement furthered by speculating that the release of their leader is what they want with a date for a referendum to ascertain their faith either to stay in Nigeria or not.
