The Israeli military has confirmed that a ceasefire in Gaza took effect at 0900 GMT on Friday, following an agreement between Israel and Hamas on a truce and hostage-release deal brokered by US President Donald Trump.
In an official statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “The Ceasefire Agreement Came Into Effect at 12:00.”
The military added that since the effective time, its troops have been repositioning along updated deployment lines in accordance with the terms of the truce and in preparation for the return of hostages.
The agreement marks a major diplomatic development after months of intense conflict and negotiations, raising hopes for a sustained de-escalation in the region.
