There was pandemonium on Wednesday evening following fire outbreak that razed a building where foam products are sold along Asa-Dam road in Ilorin.
There was distressed call and heavy shout for urgent and emergency contact to the Kwara State Fire Service as the fire intensified and threatened nearby houses.
The cause of the fire remains sketchy, and there was no official confirmation on casualties or the extent of damage from the fire service authorities.
A man was sighted shouting: “Help us to call the fire fighters to come. One house has been taken down by fire. There are people over there and many houses around”.
He further raised alarm over the proximity of a filling station to the scene of the fire, warning of the danger if the inferno spread further.
Another eyewitness shouted: “There is a filling station beside where the fire is burning. Help us call the fire service. The building that is burning is where they are selling foam.”
As the fire raged, residents of a nearby house were seen hurriedly packing their belongings, fearing the flames would extend to their property.
