The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Justice, has assured its citizens that it would ensure prompt prosecution and defence of court cases, disclosing that the present administration does not only receive cases but has a number of cases resolved, concluded, abandoned, ongoing and pending.
The Attorney General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman Esq, gave this assurance on Tuesday at the presentation of the Ministry’s score card during the first quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Communications at the conference room of Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.
Highlighting the progress achieved so far in the six directorates and two centres of the Ministry, Senior Sulyman Esq., who was represented by the Permanent Secretary and Solicitor General of the Ministry, Mrs Sabitiyu Kikelomo Grillo, explained that Directorate of Public Prosecution has 437 number of received cases, 47 cases concluded, 389 ongoing; Directorate of Civil Litigation has 32 cases received, 6 cases concluded, 24 ongoing; Directorate of Revenue Services has 155 cases ongoing, 69 concluded cases, 86 pending cases.
He added that Directorate of Legal Drafting has 43 number of cases received, 43 number of cases concluded; Directorate of Public Defenders received 32 number of cases, 8 number of cases concluded and 89 pending cases; and Directorate of Citizen Mediation Centre received 40 cases, 37 cases concluded and 3 cases pending, revealing that the Ministry generated a total revenue of #689,342,095.49 during the period under review.
The Attorney General and Honourable Commissioner expressed his appreciation to the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON for granting approval to requests, which enabled the Ministry to acheive more success.
