Kwara Commissioner Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Unruly Attitudes Among Students

The Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, addressing the students of Government High School Adeta, Ilorin recently.

The Kwara State Government has expressed dissatisfaction over the recent unruly attitude exhibited by some learners of Government Day Secondary School, Adeta and Government High School, Adeta, in Ilorin Metropolis.

The Principals reported that there was an age-long crisis between the schools, dating back to almost a decade, which they have been managing, ROYAL NEWS reports.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, stated this on Wednesday during an unscheduled visit to the schools in Ilorin to investigate the issues that triggered the unrest in the schools, according to a statement issued by Peter Amogbonjaye.

The Commissioner was greatly displeased with the students’ attitudes and the Management of the school for not immediately notifying the Ministry.

Hajia Modibbo Kawu assured them of government intervention, as she urged the students to have a change of attitude and remain focused in their studies to have a blissful future.

She took a tour of the school and appreciated the teachers for their commitments to duties, charging them to adhere to all policies of government meant for revamping the education sector.

The Commissioner disclosed that the State Government is prioritizing education to bring out the best in the learners, as an enabler for a prosperous state and nation.

Hajia Modibbo Kawu therefore charged the students of both Government High School, Adeta and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, Ilorin, to reciprocate government’s gesture by avoiding any behaviour that may dent the image of the State, urging them to be the pride of their families and the State at large.

The Principals of Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, and Government High School Adeta, Hajia Fausat Ishola and Mallam Waheed Issa respectively, applauded the good work of the present administration in rewriting the story of the education sector in the State, urging the State Government to come to their aid in reconstructing perimeter fencing to prevent their students from loitering about.

On the other hand, the students were remorseful and they promised that such illicit and barbaric attitudes will not recur.

In another development, about 20 students were picked on the streets during school hours across Ilorin, the State Capital.

While addressing the students and their parents in the Ministry, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, implored the parents to continue to partner with the schools and be involved in their childrens’ education in order to ensure that they are on track.

The Commissioner warned the students to desist from loitering during school hours to enable the dreams of their parents to be actualized, promising that the State Government will not cease in its determination to ensure that all indigent children in the State become successful by providing inclusive and quality education to the citizenry.

The students promised to be of good behaviour and ensure that they attend classes adequately.
