Kwara Commissioner Urges Students To Explore Tourism Opportunities

The Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Thursday.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, has urged students to take advantage of emerging opportunities, remain curious and ask thoughtful questions to build competence and confidence for future careers.

Olukoju gave the advice while receiving students of Kwara State Polytechnic who were on an excursion to the Ministry of Communications.

She described the tourism sector as broad and dynamic, noting that it offers vast opportunities for innovation, skills development and career growth across multiple sectors of the economy.

The commissioner said the Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has created an enabling environment for tourism and related industries to thrive, encouraging students to position themselves to benefit from these initiatives.

She commended the governor for prioritising policies that support tourism development and open new avenues for youth participation and economic growth in the state.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Kwara State Hospital and Tourism Development Board, Mrs Ramat Adenike Akanni, said the Tourism Board remains accessible and committed to supporting students pursuing careers related to tourism and hospitality.

Akanni urged the students to take their studies seriously, stressing that education remains the most valuable legacy parents can offer their children.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the team lead, Mr James Adekunle, thanked the commissioner for the warm reception and described her remarks as timely and inspiring.

He expressed confidence that the guidance offered would positively influence the students’ academic focus and career aspirations.
