The 2025 Placement Examination into Junior Secondary School One was successfully conducted across Kwara State on Saturday, drawing commendation from the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, for its smooth and orderly execution.
Dr. Olohungbebe, who led a monitoring team to several centres within the Ilorin metropolis, described the exercise as peaceful, well-coordinated, and free of irregularities. He praised both pupils and invigilators for their orderly conduct.
“I am impressed by the smooth and hitch-free conduct of the placement examination across the state. Reports from other centres have been equally positive. This reflects our collective commitment to integrity and quality in education,” he said.
He lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his consistent support for the education sector, particularly in implementing reforms, embracing innovation, and ensuring timely funding. The Commissioner highlighted the introduction of online registration as a significant milestone in modernising the examination process.
“While this is our first time implementing online registration, we are open to feedback and will make improvements where necessary,” he added.
Dr. Olohungbebe reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive, quality education, urging parents to enrol their children in public schools and assuring continued investment in accessible and conducive learning environments.
Also speaking, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, thanked the Governor for the prompt release of funds, which she said facilitated the smooth conduct of the examination. She encouraged pupils to uphold good conduct and represent their schools and families with pride.
Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Mrs. Adewuyi Victoria Funmilayo, described the exercise as a “resounding success,” citing its prompt start and overall orderliness.
Parents interviewed at various centres expressed appreciation for the improved examination process, especially the ease of online registration and early commencement of the test.
The monitoring team comprised officials from the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Centres visited included Saint Anthony Secondary School, Ansarul-Islam Secondary School Ogidi Oloje, Cherubim and Seraphim College, Government Day Secondary School Tanke, and several schools in Ifelodun and Irepodun LGAs.
