The Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) today inaugurated a 7-Man Grievance Redress Committee (GRC), saddled with the responsibilities to receive, investigate, and analyse grievances and complaints from concerned groups or individuals, who are related to the implementation of L-PRES Project in the state.
The inauguration is part of the state coordination’s office move to ensure that concerns of project beneficiaries and stakeholders are taken care of and their complaints and suggestions duly addressed at the management level.
Inaugurating the Committee, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye said the terms of reference (ToR) of the assignment include operationalise and maintaining the grievances redress process, abiding by the rules and procedures set out in the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) manual, and in the relevant National law.
According to the Coordinator, the committee has the mandate to investigate and analyse grievances scenarios based on available facts and information to ensure fairness and confidentiality; finding alternative and best solutions to the issues in order to make acceptable decisions.
Mr. Oyawoye also informed members that it is part of their responsibilities to instruct departments or authorised individuals responsible for implementing decisions and monitor the implementation of given instructions, and ensure proper records of the complaints in a designated logbook.
He further admonished the committee members to be committed and dedicated to the new responsibilities and refrain from any acts capable of tarnishing their image and the project at large.
Responding on behalf of other members, the Project Social Safeguard Officer, Mrs. Folake Iseyemi, who is the Chairperson of the committee, commended the coordinator for the trust he had in the members and assured that the committee would discharge its responsibilities without fear or favour.
The newly inaugurated committee members are the State Project Social Safeguard, Mrs. Folake Iseyemi as Chairperson; Project Environmental Officer, Mr. Abubakar Abdulrahim, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mrs. Kudirat Zubair-Oyewo; and the Project Engineer, Engr. Isaac Yanda Usman.
Other members include the Value Chain and Market Linkage Officer, Mr. Oluwaseyi Dara; Gender Based Violent Officer, Mrs. Kuburat Omoniyi and Project Communication and ICT Officer, Mr. Yusuf Ganiyu Adebisi, who is to serve as the Secretary.
