Kwara LGs poll: I prefer to monitor my business than casting vote– Iyabo Alata

Some market women and traders in Ilorin on Saturday embarked on their various types of business activities as local government election hold in Kwara.

The report was recorded on Saturday while monitoring election process in the state.

One of the Market women, Mrs. Iyabo Alata told journalists that she preferred to monitor her business than to go and spend time casting vote.

“This is the only option that will put food on my table and not voting. I prefer to monitor my business than to go and be spending my time voting,” she said.

Another trader, Mrs. Aishat Usman told journalists that her business is her pride and cannot abandon the business because of election.

“We have been voting since we are born and we are yet to see any impact of those we voted for in the past.

“My business is my pride. I don’t care about the election because nothing will come out of it . The same story every year,” she said.

NAN reports that some major markets like Ipata market, Ganmo market witnessed ongoing business activities despite the ongoing election.

However, one of the political leaders in Gambari area of the Ilorin metropolis, Alhaji Ismail Seriki, emphasized importance of the local government election, saying that council leaders are nearest to the people.

Meanwhile, electorate await KWASIEC officials and election materials as at 9:30 am.
